While it has not been a harsh winter by any means, the snow just keeps coming, an inch or two at a time. I've been on my bike 5 times so far and put on 35 training miles. We're hoping for a turnaround after tomorrow, which will mean training like crazy for the next two weeks whenever possible.
There are signs of spring all around, if you're watching. There are robins everywhere. The geese are headed north. The tennis nets are up at the area parks, and the Little League coaches were out going through equipment at the area diamonds yesterday.
If you ask why anyone would spend their time riding a bicycle, it's because of the adventures and experiences along the way.
On April 6 I leave for San Antonio. The tour map is below. Dale and I have been to the Texas Hill Country before and enjoyed touring the sites in that area very much. I'm hoping for the blue bonnets to be in full color. This is a seven day tour with overnights in Boerne, Wimberlsy, Fredericksburg (two nights), Kerrville and Bandera. I'll post each day possible, and should be able to add photos this trip too. The list making, piling and last minute shopping has begun.
I'm very much hoping for a vacation tour this trip, unlike some of the previous trips. The total mileage will be around 300 miles with 6 riding days. I'll be using a bike from the tour company, a Terry Symmetry. Some of you might recall this didn't work very well last time, but we'll give it a try again. I'm looking forward to trying a Terry bike.
Folks have commented on the previous blogs, so hope to be able to share some of the sights, sounds and adventures with you again, this time from Texas April 6 - 12. Maybe it will be above freezing in Iowa by the time I get back! Happy Spring!!
